Exploration Film Festival Davos is a public cultural platform that brings exploration cinema and field knowledge into one room. The festival exists to widen attention toward the living world, human endeavour and the questions that shape what comes next.
The festival exists to promote the field sciences, sustain the conversations that grow around them, and put a spotlight on scientific exploration in service of the planet.
Held in Davos, Switzerland on 7–8 November 2026, the festival convenes filmmakers, explorers, scientists, field researchers and audiences for screenings and conversations that go beyond the format of a conventional event.

Founder
Marcelo Garcia
Marcelo Garcia is an explorer, field experimenter and convenor whose work connects human curiosity, lived experience and the questions that emerge at the edge of the known.
His first project as a management consultant was with the team that built the largest television studios in the world, in Rio de Janeiro. He continued working with the television industry for more than a decade as a key stakeholder in the first-ever deployment of digital TV over cable, video on demand and large-scale wifi communities.
His connection to the media business extended to the creative side. He has attended the Cannes Film Festival more than twenty times and co-produced a theatrical adaptation of Ibsen's Hedda Gabler, which opened the International Ibsen Festival in Oslo.
Over the years, Marcelo observed how film festivals dedicated to the field sciences — oceans, forests, polar regions, space, deserts, sustainability, conservation — remained fragmented across countless separate events. He founded the Exploration Film Festival to bring these themes together under one roof.
The choice of venue was deliberate: with more than 150 screening rooms built over the years for the World Economic Forum, Davos offers the ideal setting for a festival of this scale.
